If you' re after a serious 'statement' piece of furniture, look no further! This console table has been totally handmade by craftsmen in Java, using enormous planks of Suar wood; yet with its simple 'A frame' style, it retains a sleek and graceful look. The wood has been gently waxed to show off the grain to best advantage - the underside edges have been sanded into a gentle curve shape. Solid, robust and beautiful - it takes (at least) two strong people to lift. If treated with care, this will become an heirloom piece that will last a lifetime. This Rain Tree console table is made from natural wood and has a waxed finish. We would recommend the use of coasters and mats to protect the wood from blooms caused by hot or wet items. To prevent colour transfer, please also take care not to sit the product directly on to carpet or floors which may stain. Suar wood is often known as Rain Tree or Monkey Pod and is a fast-growing durable hardwood. With its great strength it is often used in the manufacture of very large carvings and furniture pieces.. Traditionally, it is carved into decorative shapes, particularly animal and Buddha figures. Suar can be easily polished to a high sheen but takes great skill to carve, due to its very hard interlocking grain.
